Look-Alike Advocacy at the NACHC CHI Expo – Alanta, GA

On August 25, Jerry Isikoff, CEO of IWS Family Health in Chicago, accepted a lifetime achievement award from Dr. Kyu Rhee, President and CEO of the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), and Paloma Hernandez, President and CEO of Urban Health Plan and Chair of the Board of NACHC. In his speech, Dr. Isikoff said, “This award is not mine alone; it belongs to the countless individuals who should be standing here with me today. For the majority of Look-Alikes, achieving Look-Alike status is seen as a stepping-stone to becoming a full 330 grantee. Yet, our path is fraught with obstacles, roadblocks that we are actively working to overcome. Our goal is to ensure that funding equity is achieved for all the patients we currently serve and hope to serve in the future. I urge all 330 Grantees in the audience to take the time to understand us, to see that we operate just like you, providing similar services to our patients. I ask you to advocate on our behalf—to send emails to Dr. Rhee, Paloma Hernandez, and HRSA in support of our transition from Look-Alikes to full 330 grantees.”
